What it is...
Hospice is dedicated to making the most out of life for terminally ill patients and their families and allowing you to live each day with comfort and dignity.
Hospice is a caring, well-rounded approach to helping people and their families.
Hospice care takes a holistic view of patient care using a team approach. The team includes doctors, nurses, social workers, chaplains, nurse aids, and volunteers.
Hospice is nurses on call 24/7.
Hospice is comfort, pain relief, home, and family.
Hospice is home visits by doctors.
Hospice is the patient’s choice along with their family.
What it isn't...
Hospice is not expensive. It’s at no cost to the patient. The costs are covered by Medicare, Medicaid, VA Contract/Tricare, or private insurance.
Hospice is not reserved for those with a few days to live.
Contact us or your doctor for a referral as early as possible.
Hospice does not come with a time limit. You can use it for as long as you need.
Hospice isn’t just for people with cancer.
Many other diagnoses will qualify.
Alzheimer Disease
Cardiac Disease
Pulmonary Disease
Stroke
AIDS
Other end-stage diseases
Hospice isn’t about losing your doctor. The hospice medical director may serve as the attending physician, but the patient’s physician may continue in that role if the patient chooses.
Hospice is not about speeding up or slowing down the process, but rather about the natural course of life.
